Trust of India

Lotus Blind Welfare Trust of India (LOTUS) is a registered Public Charitable Trust. (Registration No: 1418/2002). LOTUS was formed in the year 2002 by seven individuals, all of whom were visually challenged and employed mostly as Teachers or in public sector Banks. Currently, the Managing Trustee of the Trust is Dr.K.Balakrishnan, M.A, M.Phil, PhD, who retired as the Principal of the Govt. Arts College, Udumalpet.
LOTUS runs a hostel for the poor, visually challenged girls irrespective of their caste, creed or religion, who are pursuing their higher studies in various colleges in Chennai. All the inmates of the hostel hail from very poor families in the small towns and villages of Tamil Nadu who, after completing their schooling have come to Chennai, to pursue their higher studies. Also the graduated inmate girls are given training in computer and coaching for competitive examinations to qualify them for employment in Government/public sector/private companies and offices.

Advisory Committee

LOTUS has an Advisory Committee comprising of renowned in public life who support the cause that the Trust stands for and assist the Trustees in matters pertaining to administration and fund raising.
